There are stars but where is the moon?!

At each National Park we have made a point to lay outside and watch the stars. Star gazing in Arches was pure magic – so many stars that were so bright. The Milky Way was so obvious and distinct. Last night in Mesa Verde the stars were plentiful but I did expect them to be brighter since we were 8000 feet closer to them than we normally are at home (being on the top of a Mesa). You can see the Milky Way for sure… in California it was often “I think that’s the Milky Way…”

We can never see the moon in the evening… not sure when it comes out but we see it as a bowl in the early mornings. I need to spend more time learning about astronomy.
