Isla: I enjoy the driving. It’s fun. (She sings 80% the time, watches the IPad 15% and argues with Caleb 5%)
Caleb: Ahh I’m not sure what to think about it. It’s fun to see new things. (He talks about the vehicles he sees on the road 60% of the time, listens to podcasts about vehicles 10%, tells us what he learned from the podcast 20%, argues with Isla 5% and tells us he knows something better than us 5%)
Joel: I love it. Trains but only because they make Tracy happy. I like listening to 90s country, 90s pop and Dave Ramsey. (He humours and responds to Caleb’s talking 60% of the time, says “wow look at that view” 20% the time, tells me nice things 5% of the time, humours and listens to me telling him to slow down on steep corners 5%, tells the kids to stop talking 5%)
Tracy: I like the drive. It’s always something different to look at. I prefer the roads that are not climbing the faces of mountains or along the top of a mountain. I’m not sure what these states have against guard rails… one Ranger said they don’t bother because no guard rail will save you anyway – you are already a goner. (According to Joel: 25% writing in my journal, 10% commenting on trains, 5% saying “woah slow down”, 20% writing the blog, 20% having the kids write the blog or Ranger books, 10% feeding Joel, 10% planning the next few days).
